Its Cuban influence is reflected in the cafes and cigar shops that line Calle Ocho in Little Havana. On barrier islands across the turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay is Miami Beach, home to South Beach. This glamorous neighborhood is famed for its colorful art deco buildings, white sand, surfside hotels and trendsetting nightclubs.

Miami Beach has virtually no freezing weather in its history and very few sub-40 °F (4 °C) weather. Roughly 115 miles (185 km) north of Miami, Jensen Beach is at the threshold of Florida's tropical climate designation, with January having an average about 64 °F (18 °C).
